Infrastructure means an underlying base or foundation (installations, configurations) for an organisation or a system. It is a mechanism to deliver us the basic facilities or services which are needed for the functionality of a community or society, such as transportation, Internet and communication systems, Telephone, water and electricity, post offices etc.
The IT infrastructure
Unpredictable changes in the business environment has demanded the presence of robust IT infrastructure based on high skilled resources and knowledge-base.
Terms such as “road”, “label”, “traffic light”, “toll booth”, “vehicles” etc. represents the transportation network. Similarly in terms of IT world and networks “Internet”, “LAN”, “WAN”, “Router”, “Switches”, “Client”, “Server”, “browsers”, “hardware”, “Operating System”, “Middleware” etc collectively represents a model termed as IT infrastructure.
